Color Dare #36

Time for another Color Dare! This week the colors are: Creamy Caramel, Barely Banana and Bermuda Bay. As always, if you don't have SU colors, use what you have that is close. This week, I used an image from Dustin Pike. Starting this week, Riley will be picking a "top 3" which will be announced on Tuesdays, the day before the next color dare is announced. At the end of the month, one participant will be asked to join the Color Dare as a guest designer! How fun is that?
Photobucket
Hope you'll join us this week at the Color Dare. We'd love to see your creations. Also, be sure to check out the rest of the DT's blogs to see their fabulous take on this week's challenge!

A Christmas Snowman

Once again I've chosen this cutie snowman from Dustin Pike to use to make a Christmas card. I combined several challenges with this card.
Pollycraft: Snowflake, sparkle, spots,stripes,swirls
Digital Tuesday Challenge: digi image and use a heart
Flourishes: Go outside the frame with your image
Die Cuts are R Us: Use two things you can find in their store
Spoonful of Sugar: Christmas
Papertake Weekly: black, white and one other color
Photobucket
For Pollycraft, my snowflake is my embossing, I stickled some of the embossed snowflakes for my "sparkle", the spots are on my ribbon, the stripes are on my paper and I stamped swirls on my sentiment box. For Die Cuts R Us I used an embossing folder, copics, pop dots.

Friendship

I made this card using the colors from this week's SPCC Color Challenge: Real Red, So Saffron, Bashful Blue and Old Olive. As always, I tried to find colors that were close to these official SU! Colors.

Animal Antics

This week, Secret Crafter wants you to make a card featuring animal antics. Ann's Creative Nook wants you to use a forest animal. I combined those two challenges with the sketch from this week's CPS sketch challenge and the colors from the Color Chef which are teal, brown, orange and cream.
Photobucket

Copics: 110, E29 and E43

Ladybug Smiles

This little ladybug from the Pink Petticoat makes me smile. So does this paper from DCWV. I tried to do something a little different with this card and that was to make a window into the inside of the card. I had a little prompting from Cardmaker this week since their challenge was to make a window in your card to bring the outside in or the inside out. I hope I accomplished that.
Photobucket
Challenges:
Mojo Monday: sketch
Cardmaker: window
Cupcake Challenge: cute as a bug
Corrosive Challenge: use the colors Kiwi Kiss and Melon Mambo
Card Recipie:
Paper: DCWV "Nana's Kids"
Image: Pink Petticoat "In My Garden"

Staying with the Pink Theme

I've used a lot of pink this weekend on my cards. The latest one is this monochromatic card for this week's Our Creative Corner challenge. I love pink but I'm realizing that it doesn't photograph well...especially the lighter shades. This card looks a lot better in person. I tried taking about 15 pictures of this card but none of them captured the true look of it. Oh well.
Photobucket
Here are the challenges:
Our Creative Corner: monochromatic
Whimsy Stamp: Buttons Buttons Buttons
Pile it on: Cake or pastry on your card
Card Recipie:

Easy Breezy Kewl

The Easy Breezy Kewl color challenge this week is a tough one. The colors are : Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry and Rose Red. You don't have to use the official SU colors, just what you have that is close. For the Stamp Something challenge this week, you are to use your favorite layout or sketch. I love the clean simplicity of this layout.

Doesn't that sound yummy? Those are the colors at this week's Color Create challenge: hot pink, dusty pink and icy chocolate. As I've said before, this is one of my favorite color combos so I really enjoyed making this card. I also used this week's Just Buggin' challenge which was to use the blackout feature on your Cricut, the One Stop Craft Challenge which was to use a die cut, and this week's Chirper Challenge was to make something sweet using a Cricut cut (if you have a Cricut) and to also use a stamp and glitter.
Photobucket
Card Recipie:

Ink: Stampabilities pigment ink "brown"
Sentiment: Inkadinkadoo "Humorous Birthday"
Die Cut: Doodlecharms cupcake 1.5 inches blackout and shadow for the top

Kyle's Idea

Yep, that's what this card is based on...my son Kyle's idea. The colors are from SPCC- this is for the bloghop that's going on that starts at Scrapsketch if you want to go check it out. So, the colors are chocolate chip, pumpkin pie, close to cocoa and glorious green. I was getting out the colors to make the card while Kyle was working on his Geometry homework at the table next to me. He asked what I was doing and what I had to do for the challenge and I told him I just had to use the colors...everything else was up to me. So he gave me the idea of the circles which was based on a project he did in his 2D Design class. It's a different style card for me but I like it and it's special to me because my fifteen year old son took an interest in what I was doing and we made the card together. Fun!
Photobucket
Card Recipie:
Circles: Celebrations Cartridge "circle shadow" at 2 inches, 1.5 inches and 1 inch
Embossing: spots and dots
Stamp: Stampabilities "Happy Birthday"
Ink: Stampabilities pigment ink "brown"

A Peachy Keen Sketch

That's what I used to make this card. I found their challenge blog as part of a blog hop that's going on this week which starts at Scrapsketch if you're interested in checking it out. So, like I said, I used the sketch from Peachy Keen and elements from these other challenge blogs:
Cute Card Thursday: use the colors black and yellow
Dare you to Digi Stamp: use a digi image and punches or die cuts
Practical Scrappers: use die cuts
Just Buggin: use a die cut that is altered somehow (I embossed my nestie cut)
Photobucket

An Inktegrity Inspired Card

Today is the first Inktegrity challenge. You can pick up a free digi image (candycorn!)and participate in the challenge which is a recipie challenge: use one piece dp, an Inktegrity image (it's free), sparkles and dots. I think I have all of that covered in my card! I'm also using it for these challenges:
Creative Belli Blog: Fall or Halloween theme (the candy corn)
Paperplay Challenge: use dots (DP and embossing)
PPA:Inspiration challenge. I was inspired to use the colors olive, rust, brown and cream
Photobucket
I used my Cricut for the sentiment and I have to say I'm not crazy about how it looks. I'm usually not too happy with words or phrases I cut...they just look flat and like they are missing something. I used the shadow feature thinking that would help but I don't think so. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them.
I had to color my candy corn a non-traditional color so it wouldn't completely clash with the rest of the color theme. I also added Stickles to the white part which is an idea I got from looking at the Inktegrity DT creations.
Card Recipie:
Image: Inktegrity freebie "candycorn"
Paper: DCWV "brown and orange circles"
Die Cut: Cricut "beyond birthdays cartridge" cut at 2 inches
Copics: E8 and Y21
Other: pop dots, spots and dots embossing folder, frosted lace stickles, organza ribbon in "sage"

Mojo Snowflakes

Today I used the sketch from Mojo Monday and the colors from My Time to Create which were dark red, black, olive and white. At first I thought the dark red color was more rust colored but it seemed like more people were going with a dark red which I actually liked better with the other colors so I went with that. In the picture, it really looks more brown but it really is a dark red. I also added the theme from this week's All Sorts challenge which was Snowflakes. Just for fun I added in the Cupcake Craft Challenge which was to add distressing on your card.
Photobucket

First I sanded the red cardstock to distress it. Then I colored the Dustin Pike image with my Copics, added the ribbon and punched the snowflakes with my punch. Added stickles to the snowflakes for some sparkle
Card Recipie:
Image: Dustin Pike "snow star"
Copics: 110,C5,C1,Y08,YR04,G24
Distresing technique: sandpaper
Punch: snowflake (no name)
Stickles: "stardust"
Ribbon: stash

A Little Birdie Told Me...

To use the sketch over at Doodle Palace this week but he forgot to tell me to use the colors yellow and red! Okay, they clearly said over at Doodle Palace to use yellow and red, I just blanked out. BUT it's a really cute sketch so you might want to hop over there and check it out. I did use the right colors for this week's Color Throwdown which were olive, rose red, regal rose, mustard and chocolate. You don't have to use all of them. I don't have the exact colors so I hope what I used is close enough.
Photobucket
Card Recipie:
Image: Pink Petticoat "In My Garden"
Paper: Color Bee "Distressed Dots"
Ink: Memento "Bamboo Leaves"
Copics: E31, G24,Y21 and RV19

A Spoonful of Sugar Sketch

My Favorite Artist

I made this card using a hand drawn image from my favorite artist...my daughter Katie. :) She decided last night that she would draw something for me to use on a card! Sweet! So she came up with this guy who I think is totally cute!
Photobucket
I realize that my Copic collection is lacking because I didn't feel like I had good, fall colors to use. I ran the rusty paper through my Cuttlebug with the swiss dots folder. The Happy Halloween stamp is from my friend Tina...she sent it to me with some blog candy I won from her! Thanks Tina!! And you'll notice, I still have some buttons from that super useful pack I bought awhile back!
This card is for the challenge this week at Cardmakers which is to use leaf images on your card and Die Cuts R Us Challenge which is to make a Halloween card with a stamp.

Just Because

I started out making this card just because. No challenge, no real reason to make it other than I wanted to use some of the cute paper I got last week and I wanted to use more of the Pink Petticoat images I got earlier this week.
Photobucket
Card Recipie:
Image: Pink Petticoat "In My Garden"
Paper: DCWV "Nanas Kids" pack
Copics: YG03 and RV00

Turns out this works for the Stamp Something challenge which is to use your favorite colors or papers.

Thinking of You

More images from the Pink Petticoat. The little bear is from "little friends" and the flower is from "in my garden" I just love the Pink Petticoat images. So cute and so easy to color. I used the colors from this week's Colour Create challenge which were neon green and black. Similar colors...lime green, white and black and white polka dots for the If The Shoe Fits challenge.

Frog-get Me Not

This cute little frog is from the Pink Petticoat. I used this week's Unscripted Sketch #23 for the layout and the colors from this week's Color Throwdown which were Bermuda Bay, Barely Banana and Green Galore.
Photobucket
The ribbon looks crooked in the picture but I checked and it is straight in real life (well, at least straightER than in the pic! ). I think the card bowed out a bit when I stood it up to take the picture and that makes the ribbon look weird.
What I used to make this card:

A Simple Scarecrow

I'm a pretty practical person, most of the time. And as anyone who has looked at my blog knows, I LOVE to do challenges (I might be addicted but that's another post..) My practical side stops me from doing challenges if I don't have any use for the card I would be creating. For example, I don't send out Halloween cards so I rarely participate in a challenge that would have me make a Halloween card. Okay, so this week...a lot of blogs are challenging us to make a fall themed card. Well, my practical thought was "What in the world am I going to do with a Fall themed card?" Answer: nothing. So I decided I wasn't going to participate in those particular challenges. UNTIL...Dustin Pike came out with his Wednesday Freebie and it was this totally adorable Scarecrow! Well, all practicality went out the window because this guy is just too cute so I made the card, don't know what I'm going to do with it but that's okay because I love him! So suddenly I have a card that meets the requirement for several challenges:
Cardmaker: Use a paper bag for your cardbase (used a lunchbag)
Tuesday Taggers: use die cuts or punches (pumpkins)
Digital Tuesday Challenge: Use a digital image to make a simple, fall themed card (Scarecrow)
Creative Belli Blog: Fall or Halloween themed card (Scarecrow)
Our Creative Corner: Fall themed (Scarecrow)
Spoonful of Sugar: Fall themed (Scarecrow)
Doodle Palace: Use green and orange on your card
PPA: keep it simple (well, all of my cards basically qualify for this!)
Just Buggin: layer it (I layered my pumpkin with a black and green layer)
So, here he is...very simple but I think he's a cutie.
Photobucket
For this card:
Copics: C5,E00,E31,B29,YR04,R29,Y21,110,E08,E37
Ink: Memento "bamboo leaves"
Stamp: Dustin Pike Freebie Scarecrow 9/16/09
Sentiment Stamp: Hero Arts "Thinking of You"
Diecut: Cricut Doodlecharms pumpkin at 1.5"

A Mish Mash of Challenges

But hopefully not a mish-mash card! I combined several challenges for this one, starting with the colors from Color Chef which were light blue, cream, brown and red. I knew the paper I wanted to use but was stuck for a layout so I used the sketch from CPS. Also this week, I found a new to me challenge called Rosie and Dee and their challenge this week is to use two squares and a rectangle. Other challenges:
Die Cuts R Us: use any medium (I used embossing, glitter on the cupcake and water color pencils)
Flourishes: Mix it up (I used tearing/embossing/glitter)
Lots of challenges, I know. Despite that, my card turned out to be pretty simple.
Photobucket
What I used for this card:
Paper: DCWV "The Stack 6"
Stamp: Inkadinkadoo "Humorous Birthday"
Ink: Stampabilities brown pigment ink
Coloring: SU! Watercolor pencils
Embossing Folder: Spots and Dots
Ribbon and glitter from my stash

Color Dare #34

Time for another Color Dare! This week the colors are:Blush Blossom, Certainly Celery and Chocolate Chip. These are Stampin Up! color names but if you don't have SU colors, feel free to use what you have that is close. I used an image from Doodle Palace this week called Bunnies and Strawberries.

Hope you join in and make something fabulous with this color combo. Post your creation at Color Dare because we'd love to see what you do. Don't forget to check out the rest of the Color Dare DT's blogs for some more fabulous creations!

Two New Challenges

I found two new (to me!) challenges. The first is 2Red Bananas which is challenging us this week to use a very cute sketch. The second is Ann's Creative Nook which is challenging us to use pink and black. Pink and black!! My next favorite color combo! :) I used another paper from my DCWV stack #6. Love this paper!

Mojo Combo

I made this card using this week's sketch from Mojo Monday and the color combo from this week's SPCC Color Combo which is black, white and rust. I'm using these colors for this week's Whimsy Stamp Challenge which is to use fall colors. I got this image today from the Pink Petticoat. Isn't he adorable? I do have a problem though. He's a .tif image and I don't know how to work with those. I'm used to using jpeg files and I know how to resize them. I can't figure out how to resize this guy so if anyone knows, PLEASE let me know. I've contacted the PP to find out what I'm doing wrong so hopefully I'll hear soon.

Pushed by the Stampin' Bs

When I first saw this week's challenge over at the Stampin' B's I thought "no way...that's too hard, I don't want to do it" but I kept thinking about it because it was so cool. The challenge this week was to make a notecard box and a set of 3x3 cards to put in it. The DT examples are awesome so you should go check them out. This is definitely a beginner effort but I do think I'll make them again and my next ones will be better!
I decided to make this set for my daughter. She came to JoAnne's with me yesterday and helped me pick out some paper. I got the DCWV Stack #6 which has a lot of cute paper in it. I don't usually buy stacks of paper because I end up not using a lot of it but this one is different. I made sure that there were A LOT of papers I would actually use. The paper I used for the box and the cards was Katie's favorite of the whole stack. She especially loved the little inch worm so I tried to cut it out and pop dot it onto the front of the box.
Here's a look at the whole set. I actually made the box and six cards with coordinating envelopes.
Photobucket
Here's a closeup of one of the cards:
Photobucket
And here's a closeup of the front/top of the box:
Photobucket
I didn't add a lot to the cards or the top of the box. Since Katie loved the paper so much, I wanted that to be the focus and let as much of it show as possible.
SO thank you Stampin' B's for giving me the push to try this fun project that I will definitely do again!

Hi There!

Isn't that what this cute little lady bug from Inktegrity seems to be saying? There are a lot of other cute digi stamps over at Inktegrity-go take a look! OH! And starting the 24th of September, they're going to be having bi-weekly challenges using freebie digi images!
Photobucket
I used this week's sketch from Flourishes and the color combo from this week's Easy Breezy "kewl" color challenge which was celery, light blue, gray and teal. And for this week's Stamp Something challenge you are to use your favorite embellishment. You may have noticed that since I got the Bow Easy I put bows on almost everything and a polka dot bow is my FAVE!
Card Recipie:
Paper:DCWV from The Stack 6 (lots of cute paper in this one!)
Stamp Image: Inktegrity "out on a limb"
Stamp Sentiment: Hero Arts "thinking of you" set

Stamp: "Maggie" from Digital Delights; "thank you" from Stampendous Flower Chat

A Monkey Thank You

I love this image from Dustin Pike called Cupcake Monkey. It's being retired soon so if you like it, hop on over to Dustin's place to get it before it's gone. I was barely able to color it since both of the Copics I used are almost completely out of ink. My refills should be in any day and I can't wait! I guess I use a lot of browns since I do a lot of monkey and bear cards! I made this card using the sketch from this week's Papertake Weekly.
Photobucket
The background paper is a couple of pieces from the Nana's Kids pack from DCWV.

Strawberry Mint Julep

That's the name of the challenge this week at Cute Card Thursday. Make a card using pink and green. I love this color combination! I used the sketch from this week's CPS Sketch and it turned out to be a very simple card.
Photobucket
I used my new Houndstooth embossing folder with my Cuttlebug and I made the word circle using Word Art and then punched it out with my Nesties. The cupcakes I cut with my Cricut using the Celebrations cartridge and I dotted them with lime green paint.

A Very Fall Feeling Card

Since the kids are back in school and the weather is cooling off a bit, it's starting to feel like Fall. This week, the Color Throwdown is definitely in Fall mode with their colors: pumpkin pie, ruby red and close to cocoa. I made this card using the Pals Paper Arts sketch and added a few things from some other challenges:
Just Buggin': Use a die cut that starts with the letter A (I used my Doodlecharms acorns)
ABC: D for Die Cuts (the acorn again!)
Cuttlebug Spot: Birds
Crafty Creations: use embossing (Cuttlebug embossing folder Dots)
Paper Play Challenges: no patterned paper

The colors are given as SU color names but if you don't have SU paper (I don't) just use a similar color. Check it out!

The colors this week are Old Olive, Pale Plum, Very Vanilla and Rich Razzleberry. I used an image from Dustin Pike.

I love this image, called Alfie and Fudge, from the Digi Stamp Boutique. I used it to make this card with the colors from this week's SPCC Color Combo Challenge-blue, grey and brown. I used the sketch from Mojo Monday. This will be my second entry in the All Sorts Challenge which is Something for the Boys and it's for the Digital Tuesday Challenge which is to use a digital image featuring a baby/child/teen.

Doodle Palace Challenge

Last week I won the random drawing at Doodle Palace so that means I get to set the challenge for this week. So the challenge this week is to use a digital image, one piece of dp and a ribbon. I used the Doodle Palace Frog in the Grass image and some paper I had in my stash. I love this little guy!

I hope you go join in the Doodle Palace challenge this week. I'd love to see what you create! You could get picked to be the challenger for next week!

Dog Gone Birthday

I love this image from the Digi Shack called Doggone Birthday. I used it on today's card which was for three challenges:
Pile It On: Birthdays
All Sorts: Something for the Boys
Jazzy Inspirations: light blue, purple and white

I colored the image with my Copics and cut out the background bones with my Cricut using the Paper Pups Cartridge.

A Simple Card

I've struggled with the colors for this week's SPCC Color Combo all week. The colors are basic black, old olive, regal rose and yo yo yellow. I couldn't think of anything to do with this color combo until this week's Unscripted Sketch came out. Seemed like the perfect way to combine the colors. I like the simplicity of this card. I could add a sentiment later but I kind of like it like this. This is the flower from the digi shack.

Yummy Birthday Cake

Today I am using the colors from this week's Color Throwdown: Always Artichoke, Regal Rose and Chocolate Chip. I used an image I got from Bee Crafty...this slice of cake was a freebie awhile back and when I thought of these colors, this piece of cake popped in my head. I colored it with my Copics and added the ribbon.

Another Christmas Card

Another Christmas card with non traditional colors. I used the colors from this week's Stampin' Bs challenge which were chocolate chip, close to cocoa, creamy caramel and any neutral. I used the sketch from this week's Stamp TV sketch challenge.
I ran the triangle cardstock through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder and the larger piece of cardstock through with the Snowflakes folder. I punched out the scalloped circles with my Nestabilities and stamped it with a stamp from one of my first (and only) SU sets.

The ribbon and snowflake punch I got at Michael's last year on clearance!

Awesome Fall Colors

I love this week's colors at the Easy Breezy Kewl Color Challenge. They are: eggplant, soft suede, ruby red, more mustard and always artichoke. They are awesome colors together!
