A Cheery Card

I struggled with this challenge all week. I LOVE Modern Sugar Blvd. I think their images are great and I want to participate in their challenges but the challenge this week was to make a card that was in the shape of something other than a rectangle. ARGH! I tried several different things but nothing seemed to go with the stamps that I have from MSB! As luck would have it, I was in Michael's the other day and noticed that they had their Cricut Cartridges on sale for $40. So, I picked up the Wild Card cartridge and a whole new world of card shapes opened up to me! This is made with the doily selection. I feel a little bit like I'm cheating since I didn't cut this out myself, but I think it will still count and I think it makes a cute little card. The sentiment is from an old acrylic set I had lying around and I think it goes great with the image..who wouldn't be cheered by a bright pink balloon?

A Distressing Yellow Card

This was a fun card to make. I hardly ever choose yellow as a card base but I did this week for the ABC Challenge which was the letter Y for yellow. I added the distressing on the backgroud for the Simon Says Challenge which was to do just that...add distressing to your card in some way. I used a sentiment that I got in a recent swap from my friend Nancy at Cardmaker. Thanks Nancy! The flower is from a set I got on my last trip to Archiver's.

Yoga Mama

I love this digistamp from Modern Sugar Blvd called Yoga Mama. I found a great sentiment to go with it on an acrylic stamp set I had lying around. I colored this card using my Copics (try not to notice the mess up on the dark pink!)

I used cardstock colors from this week's Wednesday Color Throwdown: rose, blue and light pink. The rose color in my picture looks much darker than it does in real life. I also made this card with two other challenges in mind: the Digital Tuesday Challenge which was to make a simple card and the Creative Belli Blog which was to use a metal tag on your card (but if you don't have a metal tag, you could use something metal so I chose this metal flower button)

Jazzy Inspirations and some Blog Candy

I made this card for the Jazzy Inspirations challenge which was basically a color challenge to use black, teal and white. I found out about this challenge through Steph who was kind enough to leave a comment on my snowman card. I checked out her blog and she's offering some super awesome blog candy for people who enter the JI challenge this week. Check it out and enter to win Steph's candy!

Photobucket

I made this card using two of my Cuttlebug embossing folders AND some awesome card candy that I got from my friend Rainy B at Cardmaker. Thanks Rainy!! I love it and it worked so perfectly with the colors for this challenge!

Wrapping Paper Card

I made this card for the weekly challenge at Cardmaker. This week, the challenge was to make a card using wrapping paper. I love this idea...the card matching the paper you wrap your gift in! How cool is that. Plus it's super easy and makes for a very colorful, economical card!

A Sketch and Christmas in July

I made this card for the Cuttlebug Christmas in July challenge. I used the sketch from the Our Creative Corner challenge. I embossed it using my Cuttlebug. The snowman is a digital stamp from Dustin Pike. I colored it with my Copics. I got the ribbon on clearance at Michael's at the end of last season.

Animals

This card was made for the Pink Elephant Challenge-use an animal in your card and the Saturday Surprise challenge which had the theme of Pets. This image is called Alfie and Fudge and it's from The Digital Stamp Boutique. I colored it with my Copics and matted it on paper I got from my LSS. The tag that the sentiment is on is from my friend Leanne. Thanks Leanne!

Christmas in July

It's been awhile since I posted anything and I definitely missed cardmaking on my vacation. We're finally unpacked so I had some time to make a couple of cards. The first one is a Christmas in July challenge for Tuesday Digital Challenge and the One Stop Craft Challenge. I used an image from Dustin Pike and colored it with my Copics. The snowflakes are a punch I got on clearance from Michaels at the end of last Christmas season. The sentiment is from an old SU set I had.

Hello!

I love this stamp from Modern Sugar Blvd. I just think it's SO cute. I used my Copics to color it and added some shading around her shoes and under her hands. I'm not too crazy about how her hair turned out but I think it's okay.

Photobucket

This card is for the Pink Elephant Challenge which was to use red, light blue and a darker blue. It's also for the Digital Tuesday Challenge which was a 1-2-3 challenge. Use 1 digital stamp, 2 pieces of designer paper and 3 embellishments.

Family Fun Time

This card is made with another Dustin Pike image. This one is called Pool Party. I colored it with my Copics and matted it on orange cardstock. The background paper is left over from scrapbooking last year's beach vacation. This card is for the Saturday Surprise challenge which was to make something that represented family. This image reminds me of the days when my kids would play together for hours in a little plastic pool in our backyard. Those days are long gone but I remember them like they were yesterday. I think this image and the "best friends" sentiment are perfect for a card that represents family.

A "Scary" Birthday Card

I love this image from Dustin Pike called "Lil Monster". He's a monster but he's not so scary. In fact, I think he's adorable. I think this makes a really fun birthday card for a little boy. I made this card for the One Stop Craft Challenge which was to create a project that involved something furry. Well, this monster is pretty furry so I used him. I colored him with my Copics and matted him on light blue and black cardstock. Behind that layer is a blue and white checked patterned paper that I've had forever.

Modern Sugar Blvd Challenge

This is a card I made with one of my new digital stamps from Modern Sugar Blvd. The challenge this week is to use one of their stamps on a card with a tag. I love this image because it reminds me of my daughter Katie. I colored the image with my Copics and used assorted patterned paper and cardstock for the other elements in the card. I used my Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge with my Cricut to cut the 2 inch bevel-top tag in yellow and a shadow of the tag in brown. I stamped the flower in brown on the blue cardstock. The flower stamp and the "have a good day" stamp are both from the $1 bin at Michael's.

Stamp TV Sketch and Color Challenge

This card is for the Stamp TV sketch challenge and the color challenge for this week. The color challenge was to use flower colors. I used another one of the stamps I won from Squigglefly-Friends are Flowers.

Photobucket

Paper Piecing Card

This was a new technique for me...paper piecing. The idea is that instead of coloring a stamp, you cut out paper to fill in the stamp shape. I really like the technique. I wish I had more stamps that it would work for, but for now, this butterfly stamp is the one I chose. The background paper is a free download from Stamp TV.

Photobucket

This card was for the Simon Says challenge which was to make a card using paper piecing.

Owl Card

This card is for the Crafty Creations challenge which was to make a card using a bird image. This cute owl is a free digi stamp from My Grafico from the set called Baby Silhouette. I colored it with my Copics.
The brown ribbon is from my friend Gaye at Card Swap. Thanks Gaye!

A Different Card for Me

This was a very different card for me to make. I incorporated several challenges into one card and came up with a card that is not my usual look but I'm pretty happy with it.

Flutterby Challenge: use ribbon and buttons and include a butterfly
Creative Belli Blog: use something with texture
ABC Challenge: V is for vellum
Cute Card Thursday: Thank you card

I found this image thanks to my friend Jeanette. She referred her readers to a site called Art Freebies and I found it there. I sanded the edges and matted it with brown cardstock that had also been sanded to give them both a vintage look. I cut the window card using my Cricut and stamped thank you in the window. I used vellum on the inside of the card to cover the window. The ribbon accross the top is velvety so that was the texture I used. I used a butterfly stamp that I received from my friend Margaret to stamp little butterflies along the corners and placed a button in the bottom right corner.

Dare U to Digi Challenge

This week's Dare U to Digi Challenge, the challenge is to make a card using pink, black and white. Woo hoo! Love that color combination and it was the perfect chance to use one of my new digi stamps I won from Squigglefly called This Little Piggy. I colored it with my Copics.

A LOVE-ly Tag

I love making tags and with my Cricut Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge, actually cutting out the tag is a piece of cake. This tag is made using all the things I love. I love the color combo pink and brown, I love polka dots and I love my Cuttlebug so I used it to emboss a heart on the inchie in the corner.
This tag is for three challenges:
Dragondream Tag it On: a tag using a real stamp that shows passion
Created by Hand: an inchie
Spoon Full of Sugar: hearts

Colorful Snowman Card

Though it's still July, it's never too early to make a snowman card! This card was really a challenge for me, actually I was attempting to combine four challenges but ended up with three.
Wednesday Color Throwdown: red, kiwi and turquois
Just Christmas and Birthday cards: Bday or Christmas card using sketch
Pink Elephant Challenge: make a card using stars and strips of paper or ribbon
I also wanted to do the Flutterby challenge this week which was to use button and ribbon but I missed the part about needing to have a butterfly on the card as well. Don't think that would work with the whole Christmas theme!

The kiwi color in the photo looks more brown that it does in real life. I used my Cricut to cut the snowman circles and the stars.

Photobucket

Favorite Things Card

I made this card for the Papertake Weekly challenge this week which is to use your favorite things. It's no secret that Dustin Pike is my favorite digi stamp artist so I used one of his stamps. I also like giraffes and the color purple (you can tell from my blog name!) so I used Dustin's Party Giraffe stamp and colored it purple. This card is also for the CPS Card sketch challenge this week.

Another Random Win

Okay, the random number generating world likes me. I won another prize. This time on the Crafty Creations Challenge blog. I submitted this little monkey card for their celebrations challenge
Photobucket

and was randomly chosen to win a necklace that is shaped like a blue and white polka dot dress! I can't figure out how to link the pic so if you want to see it, the post is here.

Thanks Crafty Creations!

Free Digi Stamps

I absolutely love Dustin Pike's digi stamps. His images are just so cute. Every Wednesday he posts an image available for downloading and it's totally free.

Here's the link to this week's freebie: santa

And in case you missed it, here's last week's freebie: snowman

Hope you like them as much as I do!

Funny Birthday Card

I made this card for the Stamp TV Sketch Challenge and the Cuttlebug Challenge. The Stamp TV challenge is a sketch challenge using layers of paper and a tilted image. The Cuttlebug challenge was to make a funny card and use your Cuttlebug. I don't have that many funny stamps so I didn't have much to choose from! I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the blue cardstock behind the image. I think the embossing folder I used is called Numbers.

Christmas Tag

I created this Christmas tag for the S2G Challenge and the Dragon Dream Tag It On Challenge. The challenge for S2G was to make a Christmas themed project using a sketch AND it had to be distressed in some way. The challenge on TIO was to make a tag with flowers on it. The snowman is a digital stamp from Dustin Pike...it was this past Thursday's freebie. I colored it with my Copics. I cut the tag with my Tags, Bags, Boxes and More Cricut Cartridge and distressed it by sanding the edges with sandpaper.
Photobucket

OOOPS! I realized when I went to post my tag on the TIO challenge that I was supposed to use a real stamp, not a digital one. So, I took out one of my old SU stamps and replaced the digi snowman image with this one!

A Summer Card

Summer. What represents summer to you? To me, summer is about relaxing, backyard barbecues, watermelon and ice cream. For this summer card, I chose the ice cream image. I thought the bright colored papers were perfect for a summer feel and the ice cream digi paper (free from Stamp TV) definitely makes me think of summer. I added two ice cream cones cut from my Doodlecharms Cricut cartridge and added some "stitching" around the yellow cardstock with a white paint pen.

Celebration Card

I made this card for several challenges:
Our Creative Corner: Sketch
Color Throwdown: guava, brown and sky blue
Dare you 2 Digi: use a digital stamp and use embossing
Crafty Creations: celebrate

I embossed the guava cardstock with the Happy Birthday embossing folder using my Cuttlebug. The floral background paper is a freebie from Stamp TV and the stamp is a digital stamp from Dustin Pike.

Happy 4th of July Card

Happy 4th of July! I made this card for three challenges:
Cuttlebug Challenge: Celebrate your Country
Sweet Sketch Wednesday: Sketch celebrating the 4th of July
Our Creative Corner: Red White and Blue

I used my Swiss Dots embossing folder for the Cuttlebug part of the challenge along with the sketch from SSW and the colors red, white and blue. I also used the little guy from my "Patriotic Pair" stamp set.

A Patriotic Card

I was in a town about 30 minutes from my house to watch my son play a baseball game. While they were warming up, I found a little craft/scrapbooking store and did some shopping. I found the paper for this card which I thought would make a great patriotic card without being the traditional red, white and blue. I started with a sketch from CPS Card Sketches but I may have changed it too much to submit this for their weekly challenge!

Photobucket

This card is for the following challenges:

CPS Card Sketch
Corosive Challenge: Something that represents your country
ABC Challenge: U for United States
Belli Blog: Patriotic Themed
One Stop Craft Challenge: Stars and Stripes

Summer Butterfly Card

This is my Summer Butterfly Card. I used summer fruit-colored cardstock including apricot, green apple and lemon yellow. I used a butterfly stamp by Rhonna Farrer to stamp onto the green apple cardstock, and to stamp on white cardstock and color with my Copics. I then cut those out and added them to the card with popdots. The striped and confetti papers are from Pebbles, Inc.
Photobucket

This card is for the following challenges:
Flutterby: make a card with a butterfly image
Simon Says: use any or all of these colors: lemon, orange, green apple, pink
Saturday Surprise Challenge: make a card with a butterfly image
One Stop Craft Challege: Use fruity colors or images

It was fun to combine several challenges in one!

OH MY GOSH I WON!

WOW! I'm in shock. I won the random drawing for a prize for last week's Digital Tuesday Challenge. This was the first digital stamp I had ever used and I ended up winning a prize! Wow. What a great welcome to the world of digital stamping. If I wasn't hooked already I sure would be now!

I get to choose three digi stamps from Squigglefly! I'm so excited!! Thanks Squigglefly and DTC!!
