On the Road to Recovery

Good Morning everyone. You may have noticed that things have been pretty quiet around here lately. I know it's not like me to go days without making cards and posting them to show you. Don't even get me started on the very SMALL number of challenges I've entered over the last seven weeks. Hopefully, all of that is going to change. You see, about seven weeks ago I suffered an attack of vertigo completely out of the blue that knocked me on my butt. I literally could not get out of bed for three days. Luckily it has gotten much better but the dizziness has not left me. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but let me tell you, when you're dizzy, it's very hard to look at your computer screen, read, or look down to color images. I said earlier that hopefully, this is about to change and the reason for that is that yesterday I went to a physical therapist for what is called Vestibular Therapy. It sounds very "hocus pocus" but apparently there are these little crystals in the fluid inside your inner ear that help your brain keep you balanced. Sometimes these crystals travel outside of where they're normally supposed to be and confuse your brain which causes the veritgo. So, I went to the PT yesterday and she moved me in different directions to try to get the crystals back where they belong. I know, I said it sounded "hocus pocus" but really, this is an actual documented procedure and I was at an actual hospital rehab center! The good thing is, it WORKED to some extent. I can now look to my left without being overcome by a wave of dizziness. I haven't been able to do that in seven weeks. So, I have exercises to do on my own and I have another appointment for therapy next week, if I need it. I'm hoping the dizziness will completely go away as I do the exercises. I am totally appreciating the non dizzy hours I am currently having. Hopefully those hours turn into days and this whole thing can soon be a thing of the past.
Sorry for this long post, but I felt like I should explain why it seemed like I dropped off the face of the earth...or at least the face of the card making blog world. :) I'm hoping to feel good enough to make some cards next week. All these cards that you've seen on my blog over the last seven weeks are ones I've done for my Bugaboo team and luckily I worked ahead and pre posted them in blogger. Otherwise, I'm not really sure what you would have seen here. A whole lotta nothing I'm thinking.
So, on to my card. You know that Jodie, the awesome creator behind Bugaboo Stamps, is taking a break from creating this month to get her new store in order. So instead of whole new sets being available two times per week, Jodie is giving away single images two times per week. Here is today's:

Thanks for sticking with me through the whole post. Hopefully I can kick this thing for good and get back to participating in challenges and visting all of your blogs!

  1. Yay Lori! I know this has been a very rough time for you. Can't wait to start seeing some more cards. Keep doing your exercises. As my dad would say -- dizzy -- no good -- daft -- well, that's normal! :)

  2. Lori, my best friend and husband both suffer from Vertigo. The treatment you had worked really well for my friend. It did not help my husband. But on further investigation we found he became near sighted in one eye and far sighted in the other and needed bifocals. He has never wore glasses in his whole life. He can't do heights either. Just a little FYI in case your doctors don't do a vision check on you. We had to do it on our own. My husbands doctor never even brought it up. One of his clients is an Opthamologist and she suggested it for him. :)
Good luck to you and can't wait to see you working again. Take care. Hugs~Terri

  4. Lori, I too suffer from the occassional bouts of vertigo. You are right about trying to look at the computer screen while you are dizzy. It just feels that much worse. Glad you are feeling better.

  5. Vertigo is no fun! Continue with the 'hocus pocus.' Isn't it funny how the oddest things work to make things right again.

  8. I've had vertigo several times....no fun....the best I could do was to sit quiet in a dark room and not open my eyes....which gets old after a day! Hope you are better soon.
