Color Dare #50

It's time for another fun color challenge at the Color Dare. This week the colors are: creamy caramel, ruby red and bermuda bay. If you don't have these exact colors, we invite you to play along with something similar. Link up your entry to the Color Dare blog by next Tuesday and you will be in the running for the weekly top three AND a guest designer spot. This is the first week with the NEW Color Dare design team so check out their blogs for further inspiration with these colors!

This image is from Dawn Moore and it's called "Coffee Cup Dots". I colored it with my Copics and used the "Spots and Dots" embossing folder for the background papers.

Peachykeen Sketch and A Spoonful of Sugar

This week at Peachykeen Stamps Challenge it's a sketch challenge. I combined the sketch with the challenge from A Spoonful of Sugar which was to use hearts on your project. The ABC Challenge this week is L for Layering.
Photobucket
I used my Doodlecharms cartridge to cut out the hearts at 2 inches for the white and 1.75 inches for the pink and dark red. I slightly distressed the edges of the tag which I cut with my Tags Bags Boxes and More cartridge. It's the beveled tag cut at 2 inches.

Help Me Please!

Okay, I made these baby cards because there are a few challenges out there for "new beginnings" and I'm making some cards for a friend of mine and wanted to include new baby cards since she has some friends who might be having babies in the next year or so AND I got the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge for Christmas and noticed there was a baby die cut and I wanted to give that a try. Here's my problem and why I need your help...my babies look weird. What can I do to make them look better? Do you cut them on blackout and then just draw a face on? How do I make them look more "real" or at least not so weird! I'm entering them into several challenges even though I'm not particularly happy with the cards, hoping that many people will see them and offer suggestions. Thank you for your input/comments/criticism. I appreciate all of it.

I used paper scraps for both of these cards and some new ribbon I found in the big box of goodies that Alison sent me! Thanks Alison!

Papertake Weekly: new beginnings
Pollycraft: Winter Birthday

Thank You Pup

A Bookmark, A Resolution and A Playdate

I first saw this style of bookmark last summer but never took the time to sit down and figure out how to make them. Turns our they're super easy! This week Pals Paper Arts is challenging us to make anything but a card so I thought of this bookmark and I used the colors from The Playdate Cafe. which were turquois, brown and dusty pink. It also works for the Corrosive Challenge which is to make something having to do with a New Year's Resolution. I don't generally make resolutions but I do have a goal this year to read more. I used to read a lot until I found this hobby of crafting/cardmaking. Now, whenever I have sparetime, I'm crafting and haven't read a book in over a year. So I'm thinking I'll start slow and try to read one book before the end of March! If you have any suggestions, leave them in the comments section please!
Here is the bookmark by itself:

And here is how it fits on the corner of a book:

Jillyan with a Birthday Gift

I love this image from StretchNBubbles called Jillyan with Gift. I used it for several Christmas cards and now I'm using it for a Birthday card. I used the colors from this week's Copic Colour Challenge which were YG03,BV02, and B93. I just so happened to HAVE those three colors but you don't have to to play along. You can use what you have that is close! I used the sketch from this week's Stamps and Smiles Fresh Batch Challenge and added some glitter for this week's Crafty Creations Challenge (I glittered the flower on her hat and the knot in her scarf).

A New Beginning with a Sketch and some Color

Happy New Year! In honor of the new year, Paper Play Challenges has a challenge this week that is New Beginnings which could be a new home, a new baby, a marriage. I chose the new baby theme and combined it with CPS Challenge this week which was to use any of their sketches from this past year. I chose sketch #130. If you like sketches, you might want to check them out because there is a link to all of the year's sketches which can be printed for a nice reference to have on hand. I also used the colors from the Colour Create Challenge which were lemon and lime.

My image is Ellie the Elephant which is available at StretchNBubbles. The DP is DCWV "nana's kids" pack. I colored her with my Copics and dotted her with lime green paint dots.
