This adorable image is from Phindy's Place. I colored her with my Copics. I also used my Cuttlebug Swiss dots folder to emboss the cream cardstock and the flower petals. I made the flower petals with my Blossom Nestie.

Bugaboo-Just in Time
Phew...I think I got this card completed in time for the Bugaboo challenge which I think ends tonight or tomorrow. The challenge this time is a sketch. If you use a Bugaboo image, you get two chances to win some awesome Bugaboo stamps!
I got to use two things I picked up at the convention a couple of weeks ago..the baby pom pom fringe (LOVE THAT!) and one of the Prima flowers that I got in a BIG tube of Primas!

Let the Sun Shine In
How's this for a bright and sunny card? That's the challenge this week at Kah Wink E Dink and this is their image too. Make any card featuring the sun and use yellow as well. I also used the colors from the Color Throwdown which were Barely Banana, Rich Razzleberry, Plum and Olive. You don't have to use those exact colors, just use what you have that is close. The sketch is from Lora at Cardmaker.
Meet Bootsie
This is Bootsie. He's one of the many adorable images you can get from the Digi Doodle Shop. I was the lucky random winner of the Digi Doodle Shops Challenge last week and I chose this adorable guy as my prize. NOW, the disclaimer, I will not regularly be coloring Bootsie orange. Nope...that was kind of a stretch for me because I was playing along with the Colour Create challenge which was to use burnt orange, black and cream and I thought Bootsie would look good kind of rusty colored but obviously, I didn't quite have the right color Copics for the job! Next time you see Bootsie on this blog, he'll be a nice, safe brown!
Challenges:
Colour Create: burnt orange, black and cream...optional to use checks
Digi Doodles: anything goes

A CASEd Card
Okay so the challenge at Crazy 4 Challenges this week is to CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) one of the DT's cards. I chose a super cute card by Mercy Kerin...WOW is she talented! I loved her design on this card and the colors she used. I used a different lion image (from Meljens) and a different color scheme...I guess that was my "selectively edit" part.
Here's a closeup of the lion's face and mane...can you see that I glittered the whole thing with my Spica pen? I also Stickled the ears and paws.
Challenges:
Crazy for Challenges: CASE the DT
Copic Color Create: B02, BV02 and YG 03 (I actually HAD all these colors!)
ABC Challenge: Thank You
Sew Many Cards: Anything Goes
Crafts and Me: Sparkle

An Altered Journal
I'm not much of an "alter-er". I make cards and that's pretty much it. Yeah, sometimes I make a tag or a box but I'm not a papercrafter...I'm pretty much just a cardmaker. This week I went out of my comfort zone and attempted an altered composition book. I have to admit, it was super easy and I like the results so I might be making more of these...although those of you who have read my blog before know that I am a practical person so if I don't have a use for something, I'm not going to make it. This journal has found a home with my daughter, Katie. I made it in the colors that we're going to paint her room (someday, when she cleans it up and I can actually get around in there with a ladder and a paint roller!) and I used one of her favorite images on the front.
Here's a photo of it with the matching bookmark-though I may re-do the bookmark, I'm not that happy with the way I stamped her name:
And here's a closeup of this supercute image from Meljens:

Splish Splash!
This is the newest image from Faith at Designed to Delight and it's another cute one. If you haven't played along in April, check out her site next week to get the first freebie of May. Then you can play along all month with a new image each week. I combined several challenges on this card, including using distressing- I sanded the heck out of my papers- and keeping it simple and not using any designer papers. TOUGH!!

Under the Sea
Or the river or the lake, or along side the river or sea. That's the challenge this week at Cardmaker-to use a sea, river or lake animal or a seascape image. Pretty flexible really. I used this cute image from StretchNBubbles. Ever since I watched an Animal Planet show about how deadly hippos are (who knew?) I've been VERY afraid of them. Luckily this hippo is super cute so I'm not scared of him.
I tried a couple of new things on this card. First, I used VersaMark watermark ink. I've never done that before and I really like the effect! I'm definitely going to use it more often. I also made my own flowers. I used the smallest die cut of my Blossom Nestabilities. I cut out three white and three peach, punched a hole through the middle and fastened it with a brad. Then I crinkled up all the layers and dabbed some distress ink around the edges.
Here's a closeup/side shot of the flowers:

Coloring Black Hair
That's the challenge this time around at the Copic Creations challenge. Check out their blog for links to lots of places with tutorials on how to color black hair. Keep in mind that when you are coloring black hair, you're not actually using black. You're going to be using several shades of grey so you can get the highlights in the hair. For me, the first step is deciding where I want the highlights to be. I have to have that set in my mind so I don't go over those areas with the darker colors. Then I start with my darkest shade of grey which in this case is C9. I use that sparingly in the places that I think would be the darkest on her head. I try to do all my hair coloring with a flicking/feathering motion in the direction that the hair grows. After I finish with the C9 I move to C7. I start the C7 going slightly over the edge of where the C9 ended. I follow this pattern with the last two colors, C5 and C3 with C3 being the color I use in the area I determined would be the highlight area. I look at the final product and add and blend wherever I think it needs it.

Spoonful of Sugar:Happy Birthday
Maimi Doodles: use colors wheat/khaki, red, sky blue

Learn Something New Every Day..
Like today, for example, I was playing along in a couple of challenges that are asking us to use Red and White this week, in honor of St. George's Day in England. I had no idea what St. George's Day was about so I looked it up this morning and found out that St. George is England's Patron Saint and that St. George's Day is England's National Day. Now I know. The article I read also said that St. George is always depicted with a dragon so now I wish I would have used one of my Dustin Pike Dragon images...but, maybe next year. :)
The image I did use is from Paper Cupcakes and it's called "You Melt my Heart". I just won it yesterday so I was excited to use it.

Paper Ink Color
I got this new image from Paper Ink Color. I used the sketch and theme from the Digi Doodles Challenge which is spring. I thought this watering can full of flowers was very springY!
New Stamp
I got this ADORABLE stamp at the convention last week. Yes, it's an actual rubber stamp, not a digi. Yes, you still are on Lori's blog...sometimes I actually DON'T use digi images...weird, I know :)

I Hope This is Right
Okay, I'm pretty new to cardmaking. I don't know all the lingo and techniques and certainly am not up all all the latest products but I'm learning and I think I learned something new today...thus the post title...I hope I did this right.
This week, the Treehouse Stamp challenge is Decoupage. I have no idea what this is so I asked my trusty friends over at cardmaker and got some answers that didn't seem to match with the Treehouse DT samples. So I did some more searching and careful examination of the DT's work and came up with what I thought Decoupaging is. I printed my image several times and took certain aspects of it to pop dot and make them 3d. I hope this is right. I 3d'd the flower, the tail and the mouse's right ear. I made two layers on top of the image for each of those parts. I think it looks pretty cool though you probably can't tell from the straight on picture. So I took a couple of other ones to show the dimension.
Side view of all:

Meljen's Thank You Bear
How cute is this image from Meljens? And how awesome is the Just Cute Bears challenge? I mean, really...how can you go wrong with a challenge focused on adorable bears? This week the challenge at JCB is flowers so I immediately thought of this image and the cute bear with the armful of flowers. I used the sketch from Our Creative Corner and the colors from the Copic Colour Challenge. The challenge colors were B93, E47 and Y23 (I used B93, E43 and Y21 and Y26 since they were the closest I had to the challenge colors). I also used R81 for the hearts.
Christmas in April
Well...sort of. I'm playing along with the ABC Christmas challenge which is H for Holly and the Bah Humbug challenge which is to feature an animal on your Christmas card. This image from Cuddly Buddly has the perfect little touch of holly on the bear's hat so it fits perfectly. I think this is about the fourth time I've played along with the ABC Christmas challenge and between this and Bah Humbug I'm getting a good start on my Christmas cards!
Challenges:
Mojo Monday: Sketch
Crafty Creations Challenge: Limted Supplies: 1 DP, 1 embellie, 1 image ONLY
ABC Christmas: holly
Bah Humbug: Furry Friends
Little Red Wagon: dry embossing
ABC Challenge: S for sparkle (stickled the fur on the hat, the holly berries and his nose)

WOW...What a Challenge
I made this card with what was quite possibly the most challenging challenge I've played along with in awhile. It didn't require a certain technique that I couldn't master, it was simply a "countdown" challenge posted by Lora at Cardmaker Cardswap. We had to use the following things in the EXACT amounts:
4 different designer papers
3 punches, die cuts or stickers
2 buttons
1 ribbon
1 sentiment
The most challenging part was finding and using the 4 different DPs and of course limiting myself to ONLY two buttons...sheesh!
I used the "nasty rag" technique I learned in my Copics class to mimic fur on the bear. I need to practice more but I think it's a good technique. Basically, you color your bear and then take a terrycloth rag and color a small section of the rag. Quickly (before the marker dries!) press the colored section of the rag on to the area you want to look furry. Keep repeating that until your bear looks furry enough. Pretty cool, huh? By the way, this adorable bear is available FREE from Wendy HERE. I stamped the sentiment with Memento "Angel Pink" ink and in case you can't read it, it says "You Make Me Smile" which this bear definitely does!

Happy Birthday to Ewe!
**Scroll down to the next post to see the winner of the Cupcake image from SNB**
Flipping through my stash of cards the other day made me realize that I need more birthday cards. More specifically, I need more masculine birthday cards. That's what I started out making with this image from There's Magic in the Air because their challenge this week was to use the image and the colors blue, green and white. Seems like you could make a masculine thing out of those colors...right? Well yeah, except that I had to add some bows and well, that pretty much killed the masculine aspect of the card (if there was any there to begin with!). Oh well, I
still have another birthday card to add to my stash-you know you can never have too many.

Caught a Bug?
I made this card with another adorable image from Bugaboo Stamps. The pink dotted paper is from a Martha Stewart pack I have. The sentiment is from a new stamp set I got at the convention this past weekend. The brown paper is Cordinations. I sanded all of the paper and used some distress ink around the edges. I colored the image with Copics. I also colored those little beads in the corner with my E29 Copic Marker to match the brown dots on the ribbon.

A Scalloped Waterfall Card
**FOR THE SNB BLOG HOP-GO HERE (ENTER BY 5PM MOUNTAIN TIME TUESDAY)**
I know I posted earlier today that I wasn't sure if I was going to get any crafting time today since I had to get my stuff organized from the Convention and my daughter wanted to change her room around today. Well...unfortunately, my daughter came home from school not feeling well so she didn't want to do anything but sleep. In the course of putting away my convention things, I came across a book I got and on the front cover was this awesome scalloped oval waterfall card. I HAD to try it so I moved my other piles of STUFF from the weekend off of my craft table and got to work figuring out how to do this card. It's actually very easy. You can see in my picture that I used DCWV paper since you can see their markings on the back. I have to go back and change that when I'm ready to give this to someone cuz it looks pretty bad this way! BUT overall, I really like this style of card.
Here is the card closed:
And here are the different views of the ovals:
Challenges:
One Stop Craft Challenge: Make a card with movement
Crazy 4 Challenges:1 ribbon, 2 buttons, 3 punches
Corrosive Challenge: textures
Pile it on: No images, just words
Crafty Cardmakers: Challenge yourself with something new to you
Pollycraft: use brown and pink and either green OR yellow
By the way, that awesome flower on the main scallop is from a big tube of Primas I got at the convention! Love it!

Catching Up
**FOR THE SNB BLOG HOP-GO HERE!**
What a great weekend. Met four friends from the Cardmaker Cardswap Group and had lunch with the editor of Cardmaker Magazine, Tanya Fox. Shopped at the Creating Keepsakes Convention and just generally had a great time with my online friends. Yesterday I went to the Copics Certification class in St. Louis. It was awesome. It's amazing what you can do with Copics. I learned several new things that I'm DYING to try but I know I'll spend the next day or so unpacking and sorting my stuff from the weekend. Then I have to catch up on all the stuff I would have done if I were around all weekend and this morning my daughter decided she needs to move her room around tonight and I told her I'd help her. Hmm...not seeing much time for crafting but you know I'm going to try to fit some in! So, just wanted to explain why I haven't posted a card since Saturday!
You still have time to enter the SNB Sketch Challenge. Make something by 5pm Mountain time Tuesday night and you'll be in the running to win 10 free images from SNB. You can still play along with the Blog Hop too where you can win the images that the DT members used in their cards for the hop. Check it out!

Spring Peep
**If you're here for the SNB Blog Hop-GO HERE!**
I'm really excited for the weekend. In about six hours from now I'm going to be meeting Lora, Jeanette, Rhonda and Ellie...four of my online friends from the Cardmaker Cardswap group. We're all going to the Creating Keepsakes Convention and we've all signed up for tonight's crop. We're meeting this afternoon to check out the Vendor Faire, grabbing a quick dinner, and then crafting together from 7pm till 11pm. How fun is that? Tommorow we're hitting the Vendor Faire again and then having lunch. I'm really excited to meet them all and spend time crafting with them. They're all super talented and I found out yesterday when we were talking about what we were all bringing that they are all loaded with GIZMOS! Yep, they have tons of crafting supplies that I don't have and they are willing to share those with the rest of us (mostly me since I have nothing!) I'm really excited...did I say that already? As if that isn't enough fun for one weekend, on Sunday I'm taking the Copics Certification class in St. Louis. I'm hoping to learn a lot and can't wait to practice what I learn and get better with my Copics. So, those are my weekend plans!
Now, on to my card for today:
It's the start of a new month so that means you can head over to Designed to Delight and pick up this free image called "Spring Peep". Make something with it and you get next week's image free too. If you don't play along with this one, you don't get next week's free so be sure to jump in now and get your card posted by 11:59 pm on Monday so you qualify for next week's freebie.
Challenges:
365 Cards: Sunday Sketch
Designed to Delight: Spring Peep image
There She Goes: Use lemon yellow, grass green and aqua
Charisma Cardz: Thank you card
Pals Paper Arts: Flowers
Raise the Bar: Flowers/spring theme
Crafty Ann's Challenge: Let the sun shine in

FIRST EVER STRETCHNBUBBLES BLOG HOP!
WELCOME to the StretchNBubbles blog hop. If you found your way here by accident, head back HERE to start at the beginning. If you've come here from Michelle's blog, you're in the right place!
All of us at StretchNBubbles are really excited to kick off our new Weekly Sketch Challenge. Each week you'll have a brand new sketch to play with designed by Alison..the amazing artist behind StretchNBubbles. There's a twist to the challenge...you have to use a SNB image (which is easy because there is a free one every Wednesday) and you have to combine it with any other challenge out in blogland-your choice...recipie challenge, color challenge, theme challenge...whatever you want. Sounds fun, right? We think so and hope that you'll play along each week. We'll announce a "Top Three" every week and we'll use random.org to choose an overall winner who will get to choose one SNB image from the store. Here is the card I made with this week's sketch:
This cupcake is one of my favorite SNB images. It's perfect for birthday cards, cheer up cards or any celebration card you might want to make. It's easy to color and that cherry on top is just asking to be glittered up! Leave a comment on this post by 8pm Tuesday, April 13th and you could win this Cupcake Hearts image for yourself! I'll announce the winner on this blog on April 14th by 9am.
I hope you've enjoyed the amazing work of the SNB DT and hopefully you've left comments on all of their blogs to be in the running to win the images they used on their cards. You're also eligible to be the overall winner of FOUR SNB images of your choice!
Now it's time to head over to the StretchNBubbles Sketch Challenge blog! Thanks for participating in this blog hop. We all sincerely hope you'll play along with the sketch challenges..we'd love to see what you can do with SNB images. So now, your final stop on the hop: GO!

A 50-50 Tag
I was bummed that I didn't get a chance to play along with the Just Scraps challenge last week so I put it at the TOP of my to do list this week and the challenge is to make a tag. I used this image I received as part of the special 50-50 stamping group. I colored it with Copics and used a tag template from the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More Cricut cartridge.
Challenges:
Just Scraps: make a tag
All Sorts: no designer paper
Crazy4Challenges: use kraft cardstock
CPS Cardsketches: sketch

Breaking Out of the Slump
I haven't been posting much because I haven't been crafting much. Sure my family and I took an impromtu vacation to Chicago last week but this crafting slump I've been in started before that. Can't explain it, I know it happens to everyone and it has happened to me before, it's just never lasted this long. Since it's the start of a new week I decided I would JUST DO IT...start with some challenges and make something. So here it is, my attempt to break out of my slump with this sweet image from Elizabeth Dulemba again!
I worked in a lot of challenges too:
Magical Crafts: Animal Antics
One Stitch at a Time: Anything Goes
Pollycraft: Anything Goes
Our Creative Corner: Buttons
Just Cute Bears: Use yellow and Green
Pile it On: Easel card
Incy Wincy: Fancy Fold Card
Secret Crafter: Garden Images
Cupcake Crafts: Handmade flowers
Daisy Doodles: Sketch
